New Robert B. Chandler Award for Safety

In 2017 the Monster Truck Racing Association is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Since its inception the MTRA has worked diligently to address both real and potential safety concerns within our industry. Over the past three decades there have been many ups and downs, but today we are proud to have been instrumental in maintaining arguably the best safety record in all of motorsports. That being said, in effort to better focus on our fundamental mission, last December we arrived at the difficult decision that beginning 2017 the MTRA would no longer offer its various traditional awards. Instead, a single recipient would receive very special recognition appropriately named after one of our founding members…

The Robert B. Chandler Award for Safety will represent the highest honor bestowed upon an individual for exemplary service or contribution in the interest of safety within the monster truck industry.

All MTRA members will be eligible for this, the most prestigious award in our 30 year history. Nominations for the 2017 award are now open to all and must be accompanied with an explanation of the basis for nomination. A list of current members is available on the MTRA website. Nominations should be submitted via email to contact@mtra.us or via the MTRA Facebook page by October 15, 2017.

Nominations for the 2018 Board of Directors are also now open and should be submitted via email to contact@mtra.us or via the MTRA Facebook page by October 15, 2017. Once the nomination process is complete ballots will be emailed to each member.

The inaugural Robert B. Chandler Award for Safety will be presented during the IMTM/MTRA Banquet at the International Monster Truck Museum in Auburn, IN on Saturday November 11, 2017.
