- CAR CRUSH REQUIREMENTS - Here is some information to use for a car crush at a small venue or dealer display: PREPARING THE CARS Where to find them: Usually a phone call to a local salvage yard will result in getting the cars donated to you – but we have seen them run as high as $100 per car in some areas. Quantity: We prefer 4 to 8 cars. However, the exhibition can be executed on 2. Always try to get full size cars. Midsize is acceptable. Compacts are not. Station wagons can only be used when driving over large quantities (4 or more). Condition of cars: Cars can be damaged on the sides, but should not be so seriously damaged in the front or rear that they don’t have a truck lid or engine hood. Cars should have some method of holding them in place whether that means placing the car in park or if standard transmission in gear. If the engine has been pulled out, the engine compartment should be filled with junk tires or a few bales of hay. To help protect your parking lot place sheets of 3/4” plywood under the cars.
Things to remove: The battery
must be removed. The gas tank must be drained, we recommend removing the
entire tank. We recommend that the radiator also be drained to avoid
spillage on your lot. We also recommend removing the glass or breaking it
into the car prior to the performance. Space requirements: We request a 100’ x 150’ perimeter (Minimum of 80’ x 120’ for safety). We prefer the area to be at minimum roped off or use caution tape for crowd control. Please make sure that you have enough employees or security people (at least 4) on hand to insure that your spectators stay a safe distance away from the vehicles. It is crucial to keep the area clear in the direction the truck is running!
Just ask: The MTRA certified
driver prides himself/herself on having the best and safest equipment in
the business. But remember that you can never be too careful. If you have
any concerns about the exhibition just ask the MTRA driver for his help.
The MTRA certified driver would gladly assist you while placing the cars for the exhibit. If you are using only 2 cars: The MTRA certified driver can drive over them lengthwise from one end to the other – leave about a 1’ gap between the cars so they are wide enough for a monster truck to drive on them. If you are using more than 2 cars (preferred): Place the two largest cars you have on the ends. Mid-size and station wagons should always be in the middle. Have all cars touching door to door. The MTRA certified driver will drive across them sideways – just like they do at the races. .: MTRA Car Crush Requirements Drawing (PDF) :. [- Click Here -] (Right-click, "Save As" to Download)
